In the Ghent Canal Zone, industry, trains, factories and cargo ships cross the daily life of the canal villages with their schools, shops, cafés, agriculture and football clubs. The area is an auditory melting pot of sounds, one big permanent soundscape.
In 2014-2015 aifoon made a lot of recordings in the Ghent canal zone. In 2017 sound artist Jürgen De Blonde and video artist Kobe Wens delved deeper into the treasures of sounds and images from that time, to make the audiovisual installation 'Oorkanaal'.
The installation consists of 4 screens and 6 speakers. In the course of 25 minutes you experience the dynamics of the neighborhood, its inhabitants and passers-by.
